Do Not Jump On This Koopa Troopa! [Music]
I repeat, do not . Even though it’s on some human’s bed, do not jump on this Koopa Troopa. Play it, that you may do. Made by a friend of internet person named Virtute, who tried to get a video fo him shredding the Mario theme, but “no cigar”. Sadness! My friend made an electric guitar that looks like a Koopa Troopa. [Reddit via Hawty McBloggy ] Read more: Do Not Jump On This Koopa Troopa! [Music]

The King Of Kong Moonlights As The King Of Song [A Fistful Of Quarters]
Steve Wiebe , international nice guy and star of the documentary ” King of Kong “, doesn’t just sit around all day playing video games. He also writes and records albums. This is his debut album, appropriately titled “The King of Song”. Those expecting a collection of songs dedicated to Donkey Kong and Billy Mitchell’s ties will be disappointed, however, as it’s 11 tracks of Christian music, with song names like “Chapel in the Pines” and “Pilot in my Soul”. A shame, then, but it’s not a total write-off, as it’s so cheesy it sounds like the soundtrack to an inspirational telemovie. Play it over “King of Kong” (of which you’ll get an autographed copy if you buy the CD!) in slow motion and you’ve got yourself a fun afternoon. Bullet Hell Shooter Making Leap to iPhone [Clips]
Japanese developer Cave has announced it is bringing 2D arcade title Mushihime-sama to the iPhone as Mushihime-sama Gaiden: Bug Panic. The game looks quite different from the original Mushihime games. (Reco seems to be walking and not flying, for example), The object here is to blow up bugs, and chaining is possible. Cave plans to release more games on the iPhone for the European and American market. As Hobby Blog points out, Cave has decided to use the iPhone platform because shooters are such a niche market outside Japan, and it’s difficult to find a distributor for console titles. So Some Guy Spent Over $300,000 On A Virtual Item [Mmo]
Earlier this year, I bought a house for $360,000. It was a scary investment, yes, but also one that gave me somewhere to live. I just can’t see buying a virtual item for $330,000 being as practical. Buzz Erik Lightyear, a major player in the world of Entropia Online , recently spent that much money on a single item in the game, the “Crystal Palace” space station. Sounds absolutely crazy, but then, there’s a catch: the Crystal Palace sells items in the game world, and Buzz will get a cut of every sale made. There’s also major profits to be made hunting the creatures that roam the station. Still…$330,000 on something that’s really just a bunch of polygons sitting on a server, whose survival is dependant on the whims of the company controlling those servers…I’ll stick to spending that kind of money on real dwellings, thanks. This Is How Final Fantasy XIII Was Launched In Hong Kong [Square Enix]
This December, Final Fantasy XIII didn’t just go on sale in Japan, it also went on sale in Hong Kong, too. Pictures of the event are starting to make the internet rounds — ahoy! Sony Hong Kong held the FFXIII launch event in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay, next to the Sogo department store. There were playable FFXIII demos and folks dressed as characters from the game — including HK popstar Adason Lo, who hosted the event and dressed as Snow. He sang a song , too! Got Any Gaming Lined Up For New Year’s Eve? [NYE]
Because I live in the future , in only a few hours I’m off to a new year’s eve party. Where there will be beers, meat, beers, friends and…video games. When we as a fanbase/industry talk about games around the “holiday” season, it’s normally about Black Friday sales. Or the November blockbusters. Or which games you asked for for Christmas. Strangely, however, it’s rarely about new year’s. But for the past 4-5 years, every new year’s party I’ve been to has had a fairly strong gaming slant to it. Whether it be drunken bouts of Wii Sports, drunken SingStar duels or drunken attempts at Enter Sandman on Rock Band, at least 1-2 hours of every party has been spent playing games of some kind. Indeed, they’re so central to my new year’s experience that I can pinpoint the exact moment my wife has gone from “tipsy” to “smashed”, because that’s the time I hear a lady’s voice from somewhere inside the house attempting a death metal growl to the lyrics of Britney Spear’s “Toxic” on SingStar. Thing is, these aren’t “gamer” parties I’m going to. These are just regular new year’s parties, with people whose game collection extends to some copies of SingStar and a racing game or two. Project that set of circumstances outwards across the globe and I’m sure that over the next few days there’ll be hundreds, if not thousands of parties where video games will take centre stage, thanks to social titles like Rock Band, Guitar Hero, SingStar, Wii Sports and Buzz!. But what about you guys? Will any of you be joining me by kicking the new year off with some social, alcohol-fuelled video gaming? Excerpt from: Got Any Gaming Lined Up For New Year’s Eve? [NYE]

Burglary Delayed By Mystery Game [Crime]
An Illinois woman came home Monday afternoon to discover a burglar playing a game on her DS, the Herald News reports. The 22-year-old woman told Joliet police that she was away from her house for about 30 minutes. When she returned and opened the door to her apartment a man ran out. “The victim’s Nintendo DS was on, and it appears the suspect had been playing it,” Deputy Chief Mike Trafton told the News. The woman’s bedroom was ransacked and a “pink iPod Touch” was missing. The DS, however, was left behind. What sort of game could have been so interesting that a burglar stopped in mid loot to play it, but then decided that not only was the game not worth stealing, but neither was the DS?
